Right Click Speed Test
Right-click inside the box as fast as you can. Only the right mouse button counts, the context menu is switched off inside the box (and only there), and the timer starts on your first right click.
Duration
Right click here to start
The timer starts on your first right click. 10 seconds.

Nothing is uploaded. Your session best for each duration stays in this browser tab only. On a touchscreen there is no right button, so taps are counted instead — handy for trying the timer, but not a right-click score.
A right click CPS test measures how many times per second you can press the right mouse button. Pick a duration, right-click inside the box until the timer runs out, and your score is the number of right clicks divided by the seconds in the test. Left clicks are ignored, so the number you see is your right-button speed and nothing else.
How the right click test works
Browsers report which mouse button caused each press. The main button (usually the left one) is reported as button 0, the secondary button (usually the right one) as button 2. This test listens for presses inside the box and counts only the secondary button. It counts on the press, not the release, so a click registers the moment the switch actuates.
Normally a right click opens the browser’s context menu, which would interrupt the test on every single press. The test box cancels that menu, and only the box: right-click anywhere else on this page and you get the normal menu. One exception: in Firefox, holding Shift while you right-click forces the menu open regardless, so keep Shift released during a run. Clicks generated by scripts are flagged as untrusted by the browser and are not counted.
Left-handed mouse settings. If you have swapped the buttons in your operating system, the browser reports the button that acts as secondary. On a swapped mouse, that is the physical left button — so this test follows your settings, not the plastic.
How right click CPS is calculated
CPS is right clicks divided by the test length in seconds. 52 right clicks in a 10-second test is 5.2 CPS; 12 right clicks in a 1-second test is 12 CPS. The clock starts on your first right click (or when you press Start timer), and any click after the timer hits zero is not counted.
| Duration | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| 1 second | A pure burst. Very noisy: one click either side of the boundary moves the score by a whole point |
| 5 seconds | A quick check that is still flattered by your opening burst |
| 10 seconds | The usual comparison length, and the one to quote when comparing with friends |
| 30 seconds | Where the middle finger starts to tire and technique shows |
| 60 seconds | Endurance. Turn it into clicks per minute on the CPM test |
What is a good right click CPS?
There is no adjudicated record or published average for right-click speed, so any precise “average right click CPS” you see quoted is a guess. What is consistent is the pattern: almost everyone is slower on the right button than on the left. The right button sits under the middle finger, which has less independent control than the index finger and far less practice at fast pressing.
That makes your own left-click score the most useful benchmark. Run the same duration on the main click speed test, then here, and look at the gap. A big gap is normal at first and usually closes with practice; a right-click score that suddenly drops below your usual level is more often the switch than your hand.
How to right click faster
- Relax the grip. A lighter hold lets the middle finger move on its own instead of dragging the whole hand with it.
- Rest the finger on the button. Hovering adds travel to every press. Keep the fingertip in contact and press from there.
- Butterfly clicking. Alternating two fingers on one button roughly splits the work between them. On the right button that usually means middle and ring finger. The butterfly clicking guide covers the technique and where it is banned.
- Jitter clicking. Tensing the forearm to vibrate the finger works on the right button too, but it costs aim and can strain the arm. The jitter click test explains the trade-off.
- Check the mouse. Gaming-mouse software can remap the right button, add a macro or change its debounce time. Turn off any macro on button 2 before testing, or the score measures the software.
If presses go missing or count double, test the switch itself with the mouse click test, or check every button at once with the mouse tester.
Right click test on a laptop, trackpad or phone
A trackpad’s secondary click is reported to the browser the same way as a right mouse button, so it counts here, but trackpads are not built for rapid pressing and scores run lower. Phones and tablets have no right button at all. Long-pressing normally opens a menu; inside the test box that menu is suppressed and each tap is counted, so you can try the timer, but the result is a tap speed, not a right-click speed.
FAQ
Does left click count on the right click CPS test?
No. Only the secondary mouse button is counted. Left clicks inside the box are ignored and shown as a separate “ignored” counter so you know they were not scored.
Why doesn’t the context menu open when I right-click?
The test box cancels the browser’s context menu so it cannot interrupt the run. This only applies inside the box; right-click works normally everywhere else on the page.
Why is my right click CPS lower than my left click CPS?
The right button is pressed with the middle finger, which has less independent control and less practice at fast clicking than the index finger. A lower right-click score is normal and is not a fault in your mouse.
Is my best score saved?
Your best for each duration is kept for this browser session only. It is not uploaded, and it clears when you close the tab.
Can I test left and right click at the same time?
Yes, on the CPS test, which has a both-buttons mode and keeps separate bests for left, right, both and spacebar.
Does an auto clicker work on this test?
Clicks created by a script inside the page are marked untrusted and ignored. A separate program driving the operating system looks like a real click to any web page, which is why scores from unsupervised tests prove nothing about a hand.
